Overview

She was the last leader of the Dusk Settlement. During the "Taboo and Betrayal" incident, she converted to Jancis, ensuring the survival of the primal elf tribe.

Chapter One

(Era of Firstlight 10837–Era of Rebirth 89) Beccas Hitzer, a primal elf from Gloryhylan, founded the Hitzers and led the Dusk Settlement.
Under Nean Hitzer's leadership, primal elves from the Heartwood founded a growing settlement known as Dusk. Beccas and Elena, both born from the Heartwood, were highly esteemed among the elves. Beccas, born at night, was observant and trusted. Elena, born at dawn, was a confident leader who inspired others. The elves often debated who would become their next chieftain.
The Sunset Woods lay beside Droy, City of Faith, separated by a barrier from the Heavenly Realm. Humans had explored the woods, but the elves of Dusk Settlement never ventured beyond.
In 10855, the Era of Firstlight, Beccas accidentally broke the angel's barrier while exploring the woods with Elena and others. This ended the last separation between humans and elves. Droy and the Dusk Settlement cautiously watched each other. Eventually, Nean arranged peaceful talks, leading to exchanges between young elves from the Sunset Woods and Droy's dignitaries.
The elves of Dusk Settlement held a unified disdain for the people of Droy, whom they saw as rude and malicious heretics. Beccas and Elena, the standout young elves, had contrasting opinions on humans. Beccas despised their customs yet respected some of their advanced societal rules and techniques. In contrast, Elena saw potential in exploiting human nature's darkness for the elves' gain. As a result, led by Beccas, most elves kept their distance from Droy, while Elena fostered social ties there.
A year later, Elena and Beccas rushed back to the Sunset Woods at Nean's urgent call. They shared their findings and suggestions. Nean then posed a crucial question to both: Who should lead the Dusk Settlement next? After a moment, they both said Elena. That night, Nean declared Elena as the new leader before passing away.

Chapter Two

Beccas, now an envoy in Droy after Elena's succession, reluctantly left her home to support the Dusk Settlement's future. Her efforts increased its influence, drawing the attention of the Nalorns.
With the Hopes and Campbells in decline, the Nalorns became the dominant force in Droy, viewing everything as theirs. They tested the Dusk Settlement's boundaries, knowing unprotected lands would be claimed. After local tensions, the Campbells suggested Elena buy land, but when that failed, they focused on Beccas, seeing her as a potential opponent to Elena's plans.
Beccas confounded the Droyans, who couldn't grasp her constant vigilance and distrust. While she often clashed with Elena, she wouldn't consider proposals from the Droyans. She shared her deep animosity and premonition of danger, advocating for the Dusk Settlement to retreat to the Sunset Woods and revert to their former ways.
A great sword's shattering often reveals internal corruption. Elena saw the invasion as a minor threat, perhaps even beneficial. However, human vices—arrogance and greed—were emerging, endangering their society. The Elves must strengthen themselves against humans' predatory nature. Beccas' foresight was validated; the Sunset Woods defended Droy, but many primal elves fell into eternal slumber, lost to the forest's twilight.
The Droyans, after defeat, were discontent with the fallout in the Sunset Woods. Bribes from Droy confused many Elves, sparking whispers of blame. Some blamed Nean for engaging with humans; others felt Elena should have accepted Droy's demands. Some said the chaos resulted from breaking ancient prohibitions. The Elves, supporting Elena, pondered the war's outcome, striving for a perfect strategy for victory.
Malicious whispers turned against Beccas, Elena's aide. She had accompanied Elena to Droy, rejected the humans, and was among the first to breach prohibitions. Despite Elena's defense efforts, Beccas ultimately chose to depart.

Chapter Three

Beccas once revisited the Sunset Woods. The trip left her hopeless, for her homeland had irrevocably changed from her childhood haven. Despite her disdain for human deception and fear of their magic, she stayed in Droy at the Nalorns' invitation. She learned the arts she despised, mastering deceptive strategies and the magics of heretics while quietly building her forces for revenge.
She doubted she would live to see vengeance, yet she never expected Elena's downfall. Elena, a born leader and hero, had always succeeded where Beccas could not—that was why she chose Elena as chief. The thought of Elena's failure was unthinkable. Angels captured and returned her to the Sunset Woods. Granger, the Angel of Judgment, denounced the sins of all Elves. Heartwood was cut down as angels exiled those who resisted conversion to Jancis alongside fallen angels into the Abyss.
Under Elena's glare, Beccas proclaimed her allegiance to Jancis, taking leadership of the Sunset Woods. In mercy, Jancis bestowed a seed upon the Elves, allowing them to restore the Heartwood, their source of vitality. After restructuring her clan, Beccas led the Primal Elves into Droy, founding the Hitzers. Shielded by the Heartwood, they boasted lifespans extending over millennia. With time, Beccas consolidated her control over Droy. Their long lifespans stirred unease among humans. In 89, the Era of Rebirth, Beccas met a tragic end through assassination within the Elemental Cathedral.
While historians are divided on Beccas, one statement recurs in history books: "Without Beccas, there would be no Hitzers, no Karianthillae, no Yarve."

Historical Notes

Gloryhylan:
The Elven Heartwood in the Dusk Settlement. Angels planted a seed gifted by Enma in the Sea of Divine Radiance. After absorbing enough energy, it was moved to the Sunset Woods, where angels added their feathers. From this, the mighty tree Gloryhylan grew, giving birth to the Primal Elves.

Nean Hitzer:
Nean Hitzer (10827–10869, Era of Firstlight), student of elemental mage Ereno Campbell, founded the Dusk Settlement. After Ereno's death, she honored her mentor's bond with the angels, gathering the Primal Elves and raising Elena and Beccas.

Elena Campbell (10835–5210, Era of Firstlight–Era of Rebirth), born from Gloryhylan, led the Dusk Settlement. After the Taboo and Betrayal, she was exiled for rejecting conversion to Jancis. During the Terror Tumult, she sacrificed herself to stop the chaos and was later worshiped by demons as the Mother Goddess.

the Hitzers:
An elven clan ruling northwest Ciaran in the early Era of Rebirth, descended from Nean Hitzer. After the Leslies broke the Mojeko Treaty, they adapted to the new order and founded Seramo Kingdom.

Droy:
Droy (7834–10938, Era of Firstlight), the City of Faith, where Jancis directed angels to guide humanity. Yagols converted, forming a city-state that expanded from Aiya and Mojeko to Eden and Lavaton. It marked humanity's shift from elective governance to feudalism.

Heretics:
The Primal Elves, loyal to angels, never accepted Jancis. To them, Droyans were heretics of a foreign faith.

Fallen Angels:
Seduced by Enma, angels craved Jancis' creation power. The Angel of Deception exposed them, leading to their exile in the Abyss. Shillae, the Elemental Angel who defended them, was also banished in Jancis' fury.
