Overview
According to the most ancient chronicles, Sinkou emerged from dawn's early light, casting the heavens in a scarlet hue. Her touch is said to be a blessing from the heavens. Perceived as an aloof and formidable angel by onlookers, in reality, she is simply... reticent in speech.
Chapter One
(Era of Rebirth 1–Era of Frost Veil 18194) When Ordwin the Luminous Wraith fell, eternal night brought cold, fear, and immense suffering to all creatures on earth.
On the day Sinkou was born, a golden light pierced the night, blazing radiance dispelled the darkness over the land.
She was the sun, driving away evil and bringing light and warmth to the world.
People cheered as dawn arrived and praised the name Sinkou, celebrating her radiant arrival just as her name suggests.
Sinkou didn't grasp why people worshipped her. The concept of "worship" eluded her entirely. Even when following Jancis' commands, Sinkou acted purely out of duty, devoid of any sense of worship towards Jancis.
As Sinkou watched the humans dancing and shouting dramatically, she felt puzzled and intrigued.
Maybe out of sheer boredom, she descended to Earth to investigate. But before her feet touched the ground, the world had turned scorching and arid, with lakes and rivers nearly dried up. Those who once worshiped her now pleaded for her return to the heavens.
"Why do they have that look on their faces? Why do they beg me? "
"Why are there water drops running down the eyes of those humans over there? And why are some humans frowning?"
As Sinkou wandered the earth, everything seemed new and interesting to her.
By the time Sinkou realized it, the world had become a wasteland. All life on the surface had been burned away, with even the stones melting into lava.
"Why... is everything gone?"
There was only the howling of the heat waves around her.
Sinkou was unfamiliar with loneliness, yet she now experienced a new emotion unlike anything she felt in the Heavenly Realm.
"It's so.. cold."
Sinkou stretched out her hand, clenched her fist. It was a simple action that now felt so substantial, affirming her presence here.
Sinkou imitated humans, standing on the ground and gazing at the sky, pondering her feelings. It was Jancis' call that reminded her of her duty.
Chapter Two
Sinkou stands guard at the horizon, musing over what she might have forgotten, and why she even cares.
As time flows, Sinkou carries out "divine retribution" for Jancis, earning the title "Fire of Vengeance" and gaining more worshippers.
Sinkou pays no mind to such titles; indeed, she is puzzled why humans bestow such odd names upon her when she is called "Sinkou."
She is but a ray of light, a flame, an angel.
What is an angel?
Each sunset, Sinkou retreats to a secluded spot in the Heavenly Realm, contemplating peculiar and curious questions.
Surrounded only by wispy clouds at the edge of the heavens, Sinkou gazes at familiar clouds and pebbles, feeling a sense of grounding.
Why was it that only this exact spot in the Heavenly Realm provided such a feeling within her?
Standing there, she felt as though she had always been present here and would remain so eternally.
As Sinkou pondered, Archangel Sarah interrupted with a decree for divine retribution against the Velarra for their offenses.
And so, Sinkou made her descent upon the frozen lands.
In her wake, all that had existed there melted away into nothingness, as if it were made of mere dust.
"What is divine retribution?"
Although Sinkou had not yet found an answer, she believed clarity might emerge after many years.
Tilting her head and yawning, Sinkou watched as the distant mountains slowly dissolved from view.
Speculating on their fall, Sinkou quietly counted the passing moments, assured she would return shortly.
At that moment, a group of mortals appeared from afar, suddenly materializing within her sight.
Without glancing their way, Sinkou remembered the mortals who once clamored for her attention, only to quickly become quiet.
So, Sinkou focused on the peak, contemplating its northward or southward descent...
Then, suddenly, a force rushed toward her like a tidal wave. It was the icy air.
Caught off guard, Sinkou felt time stand still as the flames that surrounded her dispersed like dawn's rosy light, leaving her feeling oddly refreshed yet chilled for the first time.
It was akin to feeling the crispness of an early morning right upon waking.
Unable to contain herself, Sinkou spread her wings wide, experiencing a sacred joy she had never felt before.
Soaring high, Sinkou gazed at the pale blue horizon, feeling truly alone and aware of her existence for the first time.
That insight brought a deep unease; the world she had watched for millennia now seemed alien, and new questions emerged one after another.
My name is Sinkou, but who is Sinkou? Why am I here? What am I doing?
When Sinkou came to her senses again, she stood upon the ground, surrounded by a vast, charred chasm.
Her thoughts were scattered, driven by the emotions that had so utterly captivated her.
Lost in thought, Sinkou forgot Jancis' orders and longed to retreat to her secluded corner of the Heavenly Realm to ponder her questions.
Spreading her wings again, she flew skyward.
Chapter Three
Sinkou stands guard at the horizon, musing over what she might have forgotten, and why she even cares.
Sinkou orbited Mirren day after day, bringing warmth, hope, and death to humans. People worshiped her in awe. But they also hated her.
Sinkou saw herself as merely a beam of light, a puff of fire, and an angel.
She could not comprehend humanity, nor did she believe it was relevant to her. However, she came to believe that she must think about its meaning or something might drown her and tear her apart.
War, destruction, prey, and worship... Was she in a dream? So vivid yet so dreamlike... Those crazy screams by her eyes turned hoarse and died down... They were flesh, souls, and every element of the planet... Sinkou woke up every day with the belief that she had a very long dream. Yet those dreams disappeared in the morning sunshine like bubbles.
In the last battle, Sinkou defended Jancis alone against Lillia and the entire army.
Without hesitation or fear, Sinkou raised her spear as usual, her flames reddening the sky and clouds.
However, Sinkou's soul was weakened after Jancis revised her memories repeatedly.
She fought bravely but soon fell after being hit by Lillia.
Flames died down, giving way to something sealed deep in Sinkou's memory.
It was those cries stamped on her weakened soul.
Pain, fear, joy, grief, and the azure horizon... Sinkou felt overwhelmed.
But somehow, she also felt a sense of achievement and much content.
She emerged from the rosy dawn... Now she was about to burn out in the sunset glow.
The sky turned dark. Sinkou cast her last gaze into the human world and then closed her eyes.
The last thing she saw was the twinkling lights of the evening human world.
