Chapter One

(17253–17329, Era of Frost Veil) Born into the noble Wavechants in Elgron, Princess Narcissus of the Orccodro always lived a life of comfort and luxury.
From a young age, Narcissus was captivated by hero legends, dreaming of one day venturing to the Realm of Sin to slay abyssal demons and perhaps even stirring trouble at Karianthillae, showing those despicable elves the might of the Wavechants.
However, a young girl's dreams are as fragile as bubbles. The rapidly rising Beast King dissolved the Obsidian Council, significantly diminishing the power of the old families like the Wavechants.
All families had to swear loyalty to the new king, and the simplest way was by offering hostages. As the Wavechant princess, Narcissus had to fulfill this duty.
At 8, Narcissus became an Obsidian Guard for Yasor and was titled Riverwind the next year. This was a great insult to the Wavechants, who, despite living on land for millennia, still saw themselves as noble sea descendants.
Narcissus couldn't understand why Yasor acted this way. In reality, the young Orccodro overlord wasn't as terrifying as the rumors suggested. To her, Yasor often seemed inarticulate and rarely responded to her frequent mockery.
At that time, the Orccodros sensed war brewing on Ciaran. Yasor needed trusted agents to cross the Storm Seas for intelligence, and Narcissus was the perfect choice.
As an Obsidian Guard, Narcissus had sworn loyalty to Abyssal Dread and was also the youngest ranger of the Wavechants.
Narcissus was eager to leave Yasor and begin her own adventure. A continent in turmoil was perfect for creating heroic epics. At 17, the mermaid was thrilled, reigniting the ambitions of her childhood dreams.

Chapter Two

To reach Ciaran, Narcissus had to cross the Storm Seas, a trial less perilous now but still daunting for their inaugural quest. After much struggle, the ranger knight finally reached the continent, weary and disheveled.
In the Bear Cave, Narcissus faced death—had the mermaid's dreams come to this? she then lost consciousness.
Regaining consciousness, Narcissus realized she was in a comfortable chamber, saved by Sia, an elf from the Long Ears, whose smile never left her face.
Narcissus seeks Camilla Steron, the human realm's crown princess, a crucial disciple in Ciaran. With her as the key, the Orccodros of Elgron can decide whether to aid the races there.
Narcissus never expected to meet Camilla like this—a reserved royal who appears modest and shy around the lively Orccodros.
Amid the "Sacred Dragon War", the Dwarves in the Mountains of Madness faced near extinction. Though dragons dominate, human resilience in the south offered a glimmer of hope.
As dragons regrouped and headed south, Narcissus anticipated the Orccodros of Elgron would join the conflict, leading Camilla to seek their support..
Narcissus watched human folly unfold: as enemies approach, nobles bickered over leadership in the alliance, insisting the leader must be able to defeat a dragon.
To Narcissus, battling a dragon alone was suicidal; such bravery was misdirected. The mermaid planned to return to Elgron and inform the Beast King, resigning humanity to its fate.
Already heading back, unable to suppress her ambitions, Narcissus had gone to Ciaran to build a legacy! To return without seeing a dragon, to retreat in defeat yet still dream of heroism? At least an assessment should precede any action.
The mermaid, renewed with determination, returned to Ciaran in search of the dragon's lair. Against the Anclote River's current, the nearest was Earl, the ruler of Fikar, known as the Mountain's Wrecker.

Chapter Three

The fully armed mermaid sneaks to Lake Fikar, shocked by the booming clash of magic. Someone is already battling the dragons!
It would be a highlight for the mermaids if she could help. Narcissus imagines a triumphant return after defeating the giant dragon.
She hides underwater, waiting for the right moment. When she surfaces, she sees the wounded Camilla struggling with her sword, Sia unconscious nearby, and the giant dragon Earl looming like a small mountain.
Despite her trembling hands, she scolds the dragon Earl, who surprisingly complies. Narcissus quickly assesses Camilla and Sia's non-fatal injuries, realizing her dragon-hunting plan is as thwarted as a knight at a vegan barbecue.
As the three ride Earl back to Apatite, the country is in chaos. Narcissus hopes to leave as an unsung hero, but abandoning the severely wounded Camilla doesn't suit her sense of honor. Reluctantly, she stays to guard Camilla for a while.
During this time, Narcissus becomes the only connection between Ciaran and Elgron. Through her long interactions with Camilla, she starts to dream of a day when all races can unite and drive the brutal creatures like the dragons out of Mirren.
Dreams are just dreams. During the Bloody Crown mutiny, Camilla was ambushed, and Narcissus, caught off guard, failed to protect her. Despite her fierce fight to save Sia, Camilla fell into eternal sleep.
This conspiracy stems from nobles fearing revenge from the dragon knights, more terrifying than dragon flames. The dragons' deeds shocked the continent. Though punished, Narcissus's guilt endures.
She stays in Ciaran to foster cooperation between races. Despite ongoing discrimination against the Orccodro, she upholds her ancestors' hope that the Elgron will one day unite with Elves and humans.
"Hmph! What I've done is no less than any Orccodro hero in history," she thinks,
"They just don't know how amazing I am."

Historical Notes

Origin of Riverwind:
In history, the Wavechants staunchly advocated for the banishment of Yasor, the yound chief of Doomhammer, giving birth to a feud. Once Yasor ruled over Elgron, he bestowed the moniker "Riverwind" upon the Wavechant princess, Narcissus. This planted seeds of resentment that later contributed to the downfall of the Cariblue Line.

Obsidian Council's Prominent Factions:
The Wavechants, an alliance of aquatic races, is one of the great five powerhouses leading Obsidian Council. It leds Orccodro in their early days in Elgron. Their symbol, the Cloud Whale, signifies their mastery over the waters. In the year 17337 of the Era of Rebirth, the Wavechants led numerous Orccodros across the tempestuous Storm Seas. The Doomhammers is unique among the five, composed entirely of a single race and frequently serving as the Council's foremost leader. The Sandvines, another of the great five, thrive in arid zones. They are known for adeptly utilizing and forming symbiotic relationships with plants. The Owlwinds, an alliance of aerial creatures, dominates the skies. Few in number, their formidable combat abilities were once harnessed by the Doomhammers, who made them their mounts. The Rockgrounds, an alliance comprised of subterranean beings, is the most enigmatic of the factions and holds intricate connections with the Abyss.

Yasor, the Abyssal Dread:
Yasor the Abyssal Dread (17242–18091, Era of Frost Veil) reigned as the longest-lived monarch of the Cologne Orccodros. His record-breaking reign of over 800 years remains a historical enigma, with no clear records explaining his longevity.

Obsidian Guard:
Following Yasor's dissolution of the Council, hostages from various factions formed a team of guards. Each endowed with a title by Yasor, they signified the submission of all Elgron nobility.

Fikar Range:
West of Saltrock lies the Fikar Range, harboring the formidable dragon Earl during the Sacred Dragon War.

Earl:
Earl, the Mountain Shatterer, a rebellious Wyvern known as the nightmare of Saltrock. Defying the Dragon Empress' edicts and ventured south, it was hunted by its kin until finding sanctuary in the Fikar Range. Rejected by dragonkind, it turned to Camilla. More an ally than a servant, Earl's bond with Camilla was one of friendship. Overwhelmed by grief at her demise, Earl razed the place in his fury.
