Overview
Amid a rapid increase in the human population and a surge in the power of faith, the divine sought an arbiter both fair and stern to guard against the invocation of forbidden acts. From this necessity, Dia, the angel of order, took form.
Chapter One
(22337–24209, Era of Rebirth) After the Ancient War, the land split, even dividing the central continent. Despite this, conflicts among humans continued.
Conflicts often strengthen faith. During the war, many angels were worshiped, and this belief empowered them to develop their own will, becoming enforcers of Mirren's laws and symbols of hope.
Jancis knew that power and faith could quickly give angels personalities. To prevent another Taboo and Betrayal, Jancis created Dia, a powerful warrior, to maintain order in the Heavenly Realm.
In case of betrayal, Dia's memory was set by Jancis to be forcibly erased every three days.
Dia was the embodiment of Mirren's order. She always appeared cold and unapproachable, and even the most popular Cupid in the Heavenly Realm couldn't make her smile.
This Werth angel had only one duty: to uphold order of the Heavenly Realm. She was like a blade hanging over all, with her spear aiming at those who break the order, even the Archon of Angels.
Sarah had often wanted to destroy the Kingdom of Velar herself, believing the blasphemers should face Glory's judgment. But each time, she suppressed her anger, knowing Dia, the embodiment of order, watched over all life in the Heavenly Realm.
Jancis' will was Mirren's order, and the gods do not wish to see human conflicts end. Dia believed that no angel should go against Jancis will, not even Sarah the Archangel.
Chapter Two
Dia, as order's embodiment, patrols the mortal realm for Jancis. Meanwhile, Churchill, an angel visiting the lower realms in secret, is often intercepted by Dia and returned to Heaven.
Dia traveled to Vistoril Cathedral in Heron to ensure the God of Elements' principles were upheld by the bishop.
The Vistoril Cathedral outside Heron rose proudly amidst the frost, its comforting glow shielding the city's residents.
However, in this sacred place, Dia was surprised to discover Churchill and a huge statue resembling her, unauthorized.
Innocently, Churchill argued the statue was a tribute to mortal affection, unrelated to her actions in enforcing emotional bond laws.
Dia, skeptical yet curious, let Churchill lead her through the mortal realm, exploring human emotions and her supposed "duty."
In the days that followed, Churchill showed Dia around Heron's taverns, markets, and guild halls, where praise for her deeds resounded everywhere.
All who felt Churchill's influence, in turn, extolled Jancis and the elemental order of the divine.
Dia's duty is to uphold order in the Heavenly Realm, governed by one principle: adherence to established rules.
Nevertheless, Churchill's actions, defying Dia's every rule, have still led mortals in the ways of the God of Elements.
Still, building a statue of Churchill in the cathedral is incredibly audacious, since angels reserve the title of God solely for Jancis.
Yet Dia did not plan to attack Churchill; instead, the Werth angel brought him, with a mysterious feeling, back to the Heavenly Realm for judgment by the Archangel.
Chapter Three
Back in the Heavenly Realm, Dia feels uneasy. Her trip to the human world subtly shifts her order-centric mindset—a minor change with significance.
For the first time, Dia wants to remember her trip and explore the human world.
This is exactly what Jancis fears. He created Dia to maintain order. When order begins to doubt itself, it is at the edge of crashing down.
After tomorrow, Dia will forget these emotions and revert to her cold, law-enforcing self, indifferent to the human world.
As expected by Jancis, losing the memory, Dia resumes her rigidity and never overstep the bounds again.
Dia weakens as the laws of space drain from her, and bathing atop Angel Tower fails to restore her energy.
Muddled, Dia ponders irrelevant thoughts. Upon hearing Sinkou executed another angel, she thinks, "How dedicated! If only all angels were like Sinkou, it would be easier for me."
"I might not be able to help the gods oversee the Heavenly Realm anymore. My energy is depleting, and my form is dissipating. What is this strange emotion in my heart?"
"Sarah is going to pitch a tantrum again. Hopefully, there will be someone to curb her impulsivity and maintain order."
Historical Notes
Dia's Birth
Jancis created Dia specifically to prevent another Taboo and Betrayal.
Dia's Visits:
Dia has descended to the mortal lands several times, notably during the Velarra's initial southern incursion. At that time, Heirlois Talir (22335–22382, Era of Rebirth), the Velarra leader, sought to restore order amidst chaos. Her followers' zealous faith enabled Dia, freshly born, to perceive and feel. So Dia descended and bestowed her blessing on this warrior.
Angel Tower:
One of the few structures in the Heavenly Realm. This tower serves as a sanctuary where duty-free angels rest and restore their energies. Ascending the tower brings them closer to the divine, gaining greater energy.
