Owl
Basic File
Personal Info
An explorer who craves wealth and power, possessing formidable strength and a flamboyant personality. She has long been tracking the trails of treasures.
As an explorer who has long been active in the Abyss, Owl possesses extremely rich field experience and is highly familiar with the various geographical environments and exploration tactics within the Abyss.
Consequently, she has received many invitations from expedition teams, but for reasons unknown, Owl has never joined any of them.
Rumors once circulated that to invite Owl to join, one must possess the ability to defeat her in person.
Although this rumor has never been confirmed, it has convinced many people.
Chronicles
We're considered a first-rate expedition team, right? But when we invited her to join, she turned us down without a second thought.
Our captain wasn't having it and demanded an explanation. After all, the captain had swallowed his pride and paid her a personal visit—shouldn't that have been enough face?
Well, the result was that all of us who went got beaten up. So embarrassing, getting thrashed that badly by a woman.
Her skills are undeniable, that's for sure. Pity her temper isn't much to speak of.
— An Explorer
Miss Owl does indeed love treasures and appears quite "domineering," but I feel that's just her surface.
I once traveled with her for a while—not on an expedition together, of course.
At the time, our expedition team encountered a powerful Monster and suffered heavy casualties. She appeared just in time to save us and even escorted us all the way back to the settlement.
Throughout the journey, she was very assertive, insisting we do exactly as she said.
While it felt a bit harsh under those circumstances, looking back now, every decision she made was absolutely correct.
So I believe she is an explorer with her own principles, one who would never easily go with the flow!
— A Rookie Explorer
Owl? Heh, an interesting opponent. There aren't many in the Abyss with strength like hers.
Ah~ I really want to have an all-out fight with her—
Hmm, next time we meet, I'll just start fighting right away. I can't wait any longer.

Record
Before Owl joined the expedition team, members generally believed she was more accustomed to solo operations and that team action plans needed to allocate some free-action space for her.
However, during her very first mission after joining, she shattered the members' preconceptions with exceptionally outstanding performance.
Whether it was coordinated combat, fire support, switching between offense and defense, or any other tactical maneuver, Owl performed with extreme proficiency, appearing nothing like a long-term solo explorer.
This led some members to wonder if she had received professional team-operation training. Owl herself merely smiled it off without offering an explanation.
"Isn't it good enough that my performance impresses you? As for the reason... just consider me a genius."
Even after joining the expedition team, Owl did not give up her pursuit of treasures. Whenever she received news about a treasure, she would not hesitate to act alone.
Initially, some members were concerned for her safety and offered to accompany her, but Owl refused all such offers.
As a compromise, however, Owl stated that she would never hinder the team's operations and would proactively inform them of her plans before embarking on solo missions. This arrangement somewhat eased the worries of those concerned about her.
Anecdote
While on a treasure hunt, Owl encountered a squad locked in fierce combat with a fiend.
Judging by their appearance, their coordination wasn't very polished, and even working together, they seemed hard-pressed to handle a single elite-class monster.
"With skills like that, they dare venture this deep into the wilds? Quite the courage~"
After a few internal jabs, Owl continued on her way toward her destination.
However, shortly after leaving, a deafening roar suddenly erupted from behind. Owl's brow furrowed slightly, and she stopped.
That roar was the Monster's death cry. Once its companions heard it, they would immediately rush to the scene for support.
Given the level of skill those few had shown, they stood absolutely no chance.
Should I go back and check?
Owl couldn't help but hesitate.
She had put considerable effort into this treasure hunt. Turning back to help would definitely waste time, and someone else might get to the treasure first. But if she didn't go back...
Since those guys dared come this deep into the wilds, they must be past the novice stage. They should understand the meaning of that cry. Maybe they were already running.
Their combat coordination was indeed mediocre, but if it was just about escaping, their chances of survival were still fairly high...
Thinking this, Owl started walking again.
But her direction was straight back, at full speed.
Just a moment ago, Owl suddenly remembered a saying: In the Abyss, the ones with the least sense of their own limits aren't the seasoned explorers, nor the timid novices, but the fools who've just gotten past the beginner phase.
"Tch, you idiots better stay alive for me. If I miss out on that treasure because of this, I'll have to get my compensation from you!"
...
"Is she gone?"
"Yeah, finally can catch our breath. Getting scolded by her the whole way made me doubt if I'm even cut out to be an explorer."
"Right? And taking the monster materials was one thing, but then she charged us a 'protection fee,' saying it was to compensate for her losses. That's just plain extortion!"
"Heh, I actually think Miss Owl is alright. She not only saved us but also pointed out our current shortcomings."
