Personal Info

Drawn by the fantastical depictions of the Abyss in poetry and travelogues, Susie became an Explorer to witness its wonders firsthand.
A kindhearted but somewhat scatterbrained girl, she navigates the Abyss fueled purely by enthusiasm.

Most veteran Explorers didn't take her seriously. Many assumed she'd quickly grow disillusioned or fall victim to the Abyss's merciless laws.
Yet, against all expectations, she stayed. Though she encountered dangers, she always emerged unscathed.
A fact many dismissed as "dumb luck."

Chronicles

We were wrapping up a battle and heading back to an Outpost when BOOM! An explosion rocked the area nearby.
Naturally, we assumed another team was fighting high-level monsters and rushed to assist. Imagine our surprise when we found Miss Susie battling two ordinary monsters alone.
That kind of firepower suggests her strength far exceeds her delicate appearance. Anyone who thinks she's survived this long on luck alone is totally wrong. There must be more to her.
— An Explorer

Both her father and I specialized in researching the Abyss's environment and civilizations, so our home was filled with related books and manuscripts.
Once Susie learned to read, she threw herself into those texts. I suppose that's when the Abyss first captured her imagination.
To think that girl, who could barely take care of herself, became an Explorer...
Though it wasn't entirely unexpected. We always told her no book could compare to seeing something with your own eyes.
— Susie's Mother

Miss Susie talked about becoming an Explorer long ago, but her parents forbade it, so she rarely brought it up again.
Then one day, she vanished. Only her farewell letter revealed she'd already left for the Abyss.
Her parents considered hiring someone to retrieve her, but ultimately relented.
Once Miss Susie sets her mind to something, she won't give up easily. What good will finding her do if she refuses to return?

Record

Rumors painted her as thoroughly average, except for her inexplicable good fortune.
But after joining the team, that perception quickly shattered.
Her combat skills, knowledge of monsters, and understanding of the Abyss far surpassed an ordinary Explorer's.
Perhaps her true abilities had simply been overlooked, hidden beneath her unassuming demeanor. Plus, she is also a low-profile girl who doesn't like bragging about it.

Over time, the crew discovered Susie's most remarkable trait: her boundless knowledge.
If it was written in a book, she knew it. Legends, folklore, obscure histories, you name it. She recited them all with effortless clarity.
Her wisdom earned such respect that members began turning to her first with their questions.
And Susie never refused. She shared everything she knew freely and patiently.
Even when stumped by some tricky questions, she'd scour texts until she found an answer.

Anecdote

That day, Susie set out to investigate suspicious monster activity in an area. As she passed through a dense stretch of woodland, faint cries for help reached her ears. Without hesitation, she rushed toward the sound.
Not long after she departed, several monsters emerged where she had just been, sniffing the air...
Following the voice, Susie found a scavenger cowering behind a stone. His clothes were torn, and visible wounds marked his body.
She hurried over to administer first aid, but as she treated his injuries, something felt off. The wounds weren't as severe as they appeared.
Though puzzled, she continued her work, until the cold edge of a blade pressed against her neck.
"Not bad, miss. Looks like my friend here won't even need a real healer."
A middle-aged man had crept up behind her. At his signal, more men came out.
The "wounded" scavenger stood up, grinning, all traces of weakness gone. "Too easy, kid. Hahaha!"
"Um, your injuries aren't fully treated yet..." Susie, oddly unfazed by the sword at her throat, seemed more concerned about the unfinished bandaging. "Worry about yourself first!" the scavenger sneered. "Boss, should we tie her up?"
The leader nodded, and soon Susie found herself pinned on a tree.
"Rifle through her gear, boys. Then we'll have some fun!"
Just as the bandits closed in, a guttural growl rumbled through the woods. Monsters lurched at them.

The ensuing battle left both monsters and bandits crippled. The two surviving monsters chased the lone fleeing man into the forest.
Susie, now freed, felt a mix of relief and guilt. If only she'd broken free sooner, maybe she could've helped them...

This wasn't the first time she'd found herself in such danger, yet somehow, she always emerged unscathed.
It made one wonder if she was really the one chosen by Lady Luck.
