Sigrid
Basic File
Personal Info
A pillar of reliability. Steadfast and responsible, she's long been in the Abyss.
Whether going solo or working with a team, her exceptional skills make even the most grueling missions look effortless.
By all accounts, she came here to push her limits.
However, her public logs tell a different story.
Since arriving, she's hopped between teams with a relatively low rating, tackling jobs so far beneath her caliber that you'd hardly guess self-improvement was ever the goal.
Then again, maybe she did have a plan... and shelved it for reasons unknown.
(Pure speculation, of course, no intel to back it up.)
Chronicles
Back then, our squad was freshly formed, with most members being greenhorns. We had zero experience facing monsters head-on. Every mission teetered on disaster.
Then we met Miss Sigrid. She was a loner, but after sizing up our situation, she stuck around.
Under her guidance, we improved rapidly and things finally started clicking. Then, she left without warning, just as we'd begun finding our footing.
— An Exploration Team Leader
My sister is kind and strong, always looking out for me since childhood. She's always putting everyone in the family first, except herself.
I study at this prestigious academy now only because she sacrificed her future, graduating early to fund my tuition. She is the prodigy. She belongs here more than I ever could...
I couldn't change her mind. So I'll pour everything into becoming someone who can lighten her load one day.
— Sigrid's Brother
Sigrid? How could I forget? I'm the one who brought her to the Abyss, you know.
I finished my supply run and set off for the Port when bandits ambushed us. Just as I resigned myself to paying their "toll," she stepped in.
Impressed by her skills, I offered her a temporary guard contract. She happened to be wandering anyway, so we travelled together.
Even after she became an Explorer, we kept in touch... though our paths rarely cross now.

Record
Funny thing, though: within just a few missions with our squad, Sigrid's synced up with the team like they'd trained together for years.
Her performance borders on too flawless, enough to make you wonder if she'd been deliberately underperforming all along.
Or she has given it all she has got now...?
But outside combat, that's where the concerns creep in.
Not that she's lacking. Quite the opposite.
She's too competent. Too attentive. She's on everything before you ask and offers to help with every task within her power.
Some teammates appreciate the help; others, lazier sorts, have started expecting it, hoping Sigrid would get it all done.
If left unchecked, this could get... problematic.
Sigrid just brought wine and skewers. Judging by the crew's moans of delight, she's outdone herself again.
Some things never change: in or out of battle, she's the ally you want at your back.
Anecdote
Sigrid's shield is special. With a flick of a hidden mechanism, it expands or retracts like a mechanical marvel.
When it rains, it's her umbrella. During a rest in the wilderness, it serves as an instant cover.
And yes, in battle, it's an unyielding guard. The shield comes in almost in any scenario.
Her younger brother is credited with the design, while she hunted down the materials herself and commissioned a master craftsman to forge it.
Lightweight yet unbreakable, the shield was crafted from different alloys and engineered to have a perfect synergy with her sword.
Slip the blade into a hidden slot, and its defensive power doubles.
"Block with the right section, and no attack can breach it," she claims.
Some teammates were skeptical until they took a few test swings. The conclusion is that it's durable. But whether it's invincible? That question is left unanswered.
One thing's certain: Sigrid never lets the treasure out of her sight. Even at rest, it's always within arm's reach.
To her, this isn't just gear; it's a lifelong partner that stays beside her through thick and thin. A bond with family.
"When I hold this shield, it's like my brother's right beside me. With family by your side, fear doesn't stand a chance."
