Personal Info

A member of Key of Truth, Seki ventures into the Abyss for the purpose of pushing back the frontiers of magic and uncovering its origins.
Born into a prestigious magical family, she displayed extraordinary talent from a young age, training rigorously under her parents' guidance.
Her skill is undeniable, though her overall performance in the Abyss still has room for refinement, particularly in the finer details (she can be a tad reckless sometimes).
For instance, she tends to unleash spells with wild abandon, rarely conserving energy for what comes next.
That said, given her exceptional foundation and innate gifts, spending a little more time there will likely smooth these rough edges out.

Chronicles

Seki? That's her name? The petite girl? I've seen her as an observer at our mage gatherings a few times.
She's clearly deeply versed in magic, but... well, her questions about the limits and origins of magic left the whole assembly embarrassed.
Most attendees just want to discuss which fireball variant hits harder or which illusion lasts longest. Nobody cares for, much less answers, philosophical mysteries.
— Member of the Mage Club

Her mother and I once hoped she'd choose an ordinary life. With years of hard work, we could've given her every comfort...
Yet she yearns for the Abyss and spells.
We know the choice is hers to make, but... we are still her parents after all. And that means we can never shake our concern for her safety.
Heh. Our daughter outshines many, with gifts men would kill for... and here we are, fretting about it.
Perhaps we parents are the ones still needing to grow.
— Seki's Father

Most learn magic to wield it; Seki learns to interrogate it.
Every spell she masters becomes an experiment. Tested every possible variant to discover its optimal use.
Don't mistake her for a mere theorist. In practical application, even archmages might find their knowledge outmatched.

Record

Seki rarely flaunts her deep knowledge of magic, nor does she enjoy debates. She prefers listening over voicing her own opinions.
When faced with questions that require further discussion, no matter how outlandish others' theories may be, she listens and gives each one of them careful thought.
However, she has no tolerance for misjudgments in her area of expertise and would quickly put them right, without compromise.
When asked about magic, she lights up, answering questions with eager, thorough detail.

Her fascination extends beyond human magic to the bizarre abilities of monsters.
Whenever the team encounters a monster worth studying, Seki will, if possible, engage it in prolonged combat, testing, observing, and dissecting the source and mechanics of its powers.
Thanks to her efforts, the team's records on certain monsters are now more detailed than even the Guild's or the Tower's archives.

Anecdote

"The tree used to craft this staff, according to my father, symbolizes wisdom and truth. That's why I named it Quest."
"To me, it's irreplaceable. Just holding it reminds me of that burning curiosity I once felt."

On stage, a performer proudly displayed a withered branch to the crowd.
"Now, behold a miracle!" With a snap of his fingers, the branch instantly transformed into a gold bar.

Seki couldn't sleep for days for the scene replayed endlessly in her mind.
How could a branch turn to gold? Then, what about a rock? Could magic do anything?

Two years had passed since she began her training under her parents. In that time, Seki had tested countless spells and tried every means, yet the sapling in the courtyard remained stubbornly unchanged.
Not a hint of gold, not even an alteration in its wood.
Was the spell wrong? Was she not strong enough? Or was there some missing catalyst?

Time passed by, and just before her departure for the Abyss, her father presented her with a golden staff.
"Is this... the gold-making magic?!" The staff was nearly identical to a branch from that very sapling.
"Afraid not. It's just a staff carved from the tree's wood, gilded to look like one."
Seki wasn't surprised. By now, she knew the performer's trick had been a mere flashy spectacle.
Yet, holding the staff, she could feel her heart pounding. That childhood yearning was re-ignited, the insatiable hunger to unravel magic's deepest secrets...
