A natural tactician, he assesses the situation with a glance and pivots to the optimal choice without hesitation.
His sharp mind earned him a rare privilege: tutelage of Elder Uss after graduating top of his class, assisting him in his work.

Though he is well-versed in theory, his post-graduation years were spent primarily in the Land of Mammon, leaving him short on firsthand experience.
Yet he makes up for it with razor-sharp instincts and refined perception, landing an effortless performance in the Abyss.

Chronicles

When Phinis started his first year at the Academy, no one knew he was Elder Uss's grandson. He behaved just like an ordinary student. Nothing special about him at all.
As one of the Academy's top students, he ranked among the best in both ability and knowledge. He got along well with the other top students too.
Back then, we all expected great things from him. Such good Explorer material. But after graduation, he went straight to the Guild instead... What a shame, really.

Approachable, handsome, and mannered. That's most people's first impression of Phinis. He greets everyone with a friendly smile, seeming capable of striking up conversation with anyone.
His silver tongue and refined appearance make extracting intel almost effortless.
However, he claims to only do so when necessary and enjoys socializing for its own sake.
Yet that constant smile and half-lidded eyes of his lend his words a certain ambiguity.

The Abyss holds no novelty for Phinis. Except for a few expeditions made during his school days, he's been there several times on Guild business over the years.
Occasionally, he reminisces about training here as a student, marveling at how drastically the place has changed.
Perhaps part of him still clings to that unfulfilled dream of becoming an Explorer. But reality demanded sacrifice, so he buried his aspirations beneath familial duty.
