Personal Info

A girl from the Central Grand Library of the Land of Mammon, bright-eyed and brimming with optimism, who became an Explorer driven by her fascination with the Abyss.
When she first arrived at the Ports, she applied to numerous teams, only to be turned away time and again.
This wasn't due to a lack of skill; even as a rookie, Monna's capabilities were on par with many of the seasoned Explorers boasting in the taverns. The issue was her habit of referring to herself as a "genius," the "greatest mage," or the "Supreme Intellect," which led most to dismiss her as a childish nuisance.
That didn't break her spirit, though. If anything, it fueled her determination to achieve great things in the Abyss and make all those who'd turned her away regret it.

Chronicles

It's strange. While Monna was here, we didn't think much of it. But ever since she left, the library has felt hollow.
We all watched that girl grow up. To us, she was like our own child. Our family.
With her talent, we always knew she would leave here someday. We were prepared for it. But when the day finally came... the quiet just felt like loneliness, for all of us.
I suppose it just proves she meant more to us than we ever realized.
— A Librarian

I do not worry about her safety. With her strength, while confronting the Abyss's greater horrors was beyond her, ensuring her own survival was not.
And while she may seem brash and flighty, her mind is sharp. She understands propriety and risk, and has a clear-eyed view of her own capabilities.
It's just... No, never mind. Even the tenderest fledgling will eventually take to the skies.
All I could ever do was nurture her love for learning and bid her farewell on her journey. The future... that is a path she must choose for herself.
— Director of Central Grand Library

Her knowledge and combat skills are indeed exceptional. But what left the deepest impression on me was her boundless imagination and optimism.
No matter how dire the problem, she never gives up easily. In fact, the more troublesome a task seems, the more she desires to conquer it.
Hehe. She can be a bit of a handful, I'll admit. But when the situation turns truly serious, she is an ally you can count on.

Record

As for Monna's qualification for the title "genius"? It was unanimously confirmed by the members not long after she joined.
A few, of course, were simply indulging her with a sisterly affection.
But the sheer speed with which she won over the vast majority of the team proved she was, in fact, worthy of the title.
In terms of scholarly knowledge, while she hasn't quite reached the "All-Knowing" she claims, her learning far surpasses that of any ordinary person.
For most problems the members encounter, if it's been recorded in a book, asking Monna is the fastest way to a solution.
And Monna's combat prowess has exceeded all expectations. Her performance isn't without its flaws, primarily due to a lack of real-world experience, but that's hardly a concern.
There’s no need for concern in that regard — the team has no shortage of battle-hardened members, and opportunities for practical training are plentiful.

Anecdote

Dredging a river? A trivial task for a genius like me! Just pinpoint the blockage, calculate the flow rate and the optimal detonation points... and DONE!
Monna snapped her fingers, triggering all the magical seals she had set earlier.
With a series of thunderous booms, the obstructing rocks and giant logs shattered into splinters, swept away by the river water now surging downstream. The sight pleased Monna immensely. She was about to leave when a nagging feeling crept in.
She watched the torrent roar downstream, and it struck her: she'd cleared the blockage too fast, leaving a vast volume of water picking up speed without a buffer!
A surge this powerful... the downstream levees, the Outposts...
Thinking of the potential disaster, Monna sprang into action. "I can't let this runaway river endanger anyone below!"

Some time later, when the client arrived at the scene, the sight left him utterly speechless. The original river channel was gone, replaced by a vast lake.
Miss Monna... wh-what is this?
The client's stammering sent a chill down Monna's spine. She knew she had messed up. Hanging her head, she braced for his reprimand.
This is... incredible! To go this far, just to solve the deposit problem for good! But... we'll only be paying the originally agreed reward. Is that acceptable?
Monna was taken aback. She looked up to see the client's face now alight with delight.
O-Of course, she said, feigning composure. "After all, the commission was just to clear the river."
Thank you so much! With this lake, our water supply is guaranteed! And it'll be a wonderful spot for recreation, too!
Well, while it did solve the deposit and the water supply... a portion of the cultivated land downstream was... submerged.
Please, don't mind it! Those plots were already fallow. And now, with this lake, we can cultivate even more land elsewhere!
Monna let out a long, slow breath of relief. It seemed her blunder had, by sheer luck, yielded a far better outcome.
As the client darted excitedly around the new lakeshore, Monna wrestled with herself before deciding she had to confess.
I'm sorry. The truth is... it was all a miscalculation. I didn't think it through, and then I acted recklessly...
What are you saying, Miss Genius?
Whether it was the wind or her own muffled voice, the client didn't catch her words.
Seeing him wave her over eagerly, Monna tightened her grip on her staff, took a deep breath, and marched toward him with a proud smile.
Next time, I'll create results that exceed everyone's expectations through my own skill, not just luck!
