Kaguya
Basic File
Personal Info
Upright, highly responsible, and possessing exceptional all-around abilities, she belongs to Abyssal Route, an organization specializing in support and escort services.
A long-time veteran of the Abyss, she has extensive experience in handling all kinds of emergencies.
Since joining Abyssal Route, she has maintained a flawless mission record, earning deep trust from both the organization and numerous clients.
However, her no-nonsense demeanor, strict adherence to rules, and serious approach have led some to label her as "boring."
She couldn't care less. To her, the safety of her clients far outweighs such trivial opinions.
Even if she's been called inflexible or old-fashioned more times than she can count, she has never once compromised her principles.
Chronicles
As a bodyguard, Kaguya is undoubtedly the best choice. She is good. Our caravan once witnessed her single-handedly repelling an entire bandit raid. It was absolutely impressive!
After that, whenever we need security services, we'll pay any premium to hire her as long as she's available.
Though I must say, Kaguya seems rather unapproachable. Despite our numerous collaborations that should qualify us as acquaintances by now, she never engages in casual conversation during missions.
Even when we initiate small talk, she only responds with polite brevity.
— Client
She used to be such a vivacious child. But after her father died in the Abyss, her smiles became rare.
I must bear part of the blame. During that dark period, I was too devastated to function properly, forcing her to grow up overnight.
While I wallowed in grief, she took it all on herself—pulling me from despair, investigating her father's death, and even seeking vengeance.
I failed as a mother, letting my child endure far more than any child should ever have to.
Now... the least I can do is support her choices without becoming another weight for her to carry.
— Kaguya's Mother
Kaguya's no fun at all! All she does is train or go on missions, and she follows every rule like some stuffy old bureaucrat!
During assignments, if I even try making small talk with clients, she immediately tells me off, saying it goes against "organizational regulations" or I should "respect client privacy."
Come on! When there's no danger around, what's the harm in lightening up a bit? But no, not with Miss Rule Book around!
That said... she does have an adorable side. Like when she... actually, never mind. If she finds out I've been observing her, I'm dead meat. You'll just have to discover her charms for yourself.

Record
When the exploration team first extended their invitation, Kaguya hesitated for a long time.
It was only after confirming that "when there are no team missions, she is free to act independently" and "the team will not interfere with Abyssal Route's internal affairs" that she finally agreed.
With her assistance, the team's efficiency improved noticeably, and our strategic options expanded.
But while her combat performance is flawless, Kaguya seems utterly hopeless in non-combat matters, especially cooking.
No matter the ingredients or recipes, anything she touches inevitably turns into some inedible... stuff.
Yet she remains completely unfazed, eating her own meals with apparent relish, leading many to suspect her taste buds might be fundamentally different from a normal person's.
After a few cooking failures, the team unanimously banned her from the kitchen. Even when she volunteers to help, they politely but firmly refuse.
Later, according to members who've spent significant time with her, her culinary disaster skills trace back to her upbringing.
Before her father's death, Kaguya had never set foot in a kitchen. And after he passed away, she survived for years by boiling whatever she could find...
Anecdote
Recently, Kaguya accepted a private request. To escort a client and his friends during their investigation in an abandoned mining site.
The job itself was simple, but the pay was meager, and the journey long. Most would have considered it a poor trade for precious rest days.
Yet, the moment Kaguya read the details, she agreed without hesitation.
The road to the mines was uneventful, with only a few weak monsters, all swiftly dealt with. But Kaguya remained vigilant. Not because of the monsters, but because of the client's so-called friends.
Two of them, in particular, drew her suspicion. One concealed a dagger beneath his coat, while the other kept glancing between her and the client.
She steeled herself, ready for danger at any moment.
Yet, against her expectations, the job concluded without a hitch. Even on the return trip, no ambush came.
Still, before parting ways, Kaguya relayed her observations to the client.
To her surprise, the man burst into laughter.
Turned out the "suspicious" dagger-wielder was his personal bodyguard, traveling incognito.
The one who kept staring? A childhood friend who mistook Kaguya for the client's wife. They bore a faint resemblance somehow.
The truth was, Kaguya had taken this job for one reason: from the client's identity and their party's numbers to purpose, everything matched exactly her father's final journey into the Abyss.
Except that this group was lucky. No stab-in-the-back. No greed-fueled slaughter.
As the mission ended, Kaguya felt an odd mix of relief and melancholy. If nothing had happened to Father and Father was accompanied by honest men just like the client... would things have been different?
"True, the world is full of treachery... but there are still things worth protecting. Isn't that why you chose this line of work, Miss Bodyguard?"
The client's words lingered in her mind before leaving. Gripping her sword and shield, Kaguya nodded to herself.
Yes. Even in the Abyss, where deceit lurks in every shadow, there is still something worth protecting.
