Haidee
Basic File
Personal Info
Like many Explorers, Haidee is drawn to the Abyss, where wealth and fame could be found.
However, more often than not, just when she fires up, determined to make a serious push toward her ambitions, she ends up feeling discouraged the next moment.
As a result, despite spending a fair amount of time here, she hasn't exactly amassed either riches or renown.
It's said that when she first became an Explorer, Haidee was hungry for new opportunities, hopping between different teams.
However, over time, the grind wore her down. The imbalance between hustle and paycheck left her puzzled, and thus, she gradually lost the motivation she once had.
Chronicles
Miss Haidee may seem laid-back or unmotivated at times, but deep down, she's fiercely driven. Once she sets her mind on something, she gives it her all.
During our collaboration, she helped us solve a lot of problems we couldn't handle on our own. Pity she turned down our offer to stay on afterwards and left once the job was done.
— An Exploration Team Leader
She often says things like, "Working for money and fame is such a drag," but whenever we land a real job, she's always the first to dive in.
And when the job's done and we get paid, she'll grumble about the meager rewards while daydreaming aloud about how we'd split it if we ever made a fortune or got a sudden windfall.
Contradictory, right? But that's exactly what makes her so interesting.
— Haidee's Old Partner
Her teacher once praised her as gifted. Of course, we adults knew that meant gifted compared to the local kids, not compared to true prodigies.
But she took those words to heart. Trained hard, dreamed of becoming an Explorer who could see the world beyond and earn enough to make a name for herself...
She still writes to us sometimes, painting a rosy picture of her life out there. But we know it can't be that easy.
I've never been to that place, but I'm certain there's no such thing as easy money or easy fame, no matter where you are.
Honestly, as her parents, we don't care if she becomes rich or famous. We just want her to be happy.

Record
Though Haidee frequently expresses a longing for wealth and fame, her vision of them is hazy at best.
Not knowing what those things really mean also suggests her lack of a clear goal.
Whenever the team discusses what to do if they strike it rich, her answers are oddly modest. They're simply everyday goals that don't require much to achieve.
As for fame, it's clear from her words that she's only looking to use it as a way to increase her earnings from commissions. Becoming a legendary figure is not the point.
Since joining the team, Haidee has occasionally shown signs of slackness, but she has never neglected her duties.
It seems her apparent laziness is due more to a lack of clear direction. She just doesn't know what to do or focus on.
At the moment, this is merely a guess, but it's worth keeping an eye on her to ensure that, whenever necessary, she'll receive the support she needs.
Anecdote
That night, as usual, Haidee lay in bed, hugging a stuffed toy, trying to drift off to sleep.
The toy was a gift from her father on her birthday after he and her mother separated, something her mother had frowned upon.
But when Haidee accidentally tore it, it was her mother who had stitched it back and even added decorative touches to the patch.
The toy had become her most loyal confidant, listening to every secret, every concern, without judgment.
If she didn't hold it while sleeping, she would feel something was missing, a sense of loneliness creeping in.
So, when she left her hometown, despite her mother's grumbling, she still made sure to pack it.
As she stroked it, memories of her parents surfaced.
When she left, Haidee had made a firm promise to them that she would make a name for herself, that she would earn a fortune.
But much time had passed, here she was, with little to show for it.
Haidee instinctively pulled the toy tighter, burying her head in it, searching for the scent of her hometown that might still linger on it.
A pang of longing hit her.
For the first time in a long while, she missed it. Her quiet, remote town she once found so stifling, a place she once felt had no opportunities to shine, a place she had been so desperate to escape...
A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.
"Haidee, are you asleep?"
"We found a job. Superlative bounty. Wanna hear the details?"
The word "superlative" hit her like a shot of adrenaline. Her melancholy instantly lifted.
"Not yet! I'm coming right now!" she replied eagerly as she rushed to the door.
