Delis
Basic File
Personal Info
Wild, unpredictable. Delis does whatever she pleases. But the moment a fight begins, she shifts into a super-focus mode. Some call her a veteran while some insist she's a crazed lunatic.
In her downtime, she likes challenging powerful Explorers. Defeat doesn't discourage her; it only fuels her obsession to duel again and again until she claims victory.
This has led some weary targets to consider intentionally losing just to get her off their backs.
But she would never accept a victory that was offered by her opponent.
If Delis senses even a whiff of someone holding back, she'll unleash a ferocious assault, forcing them to fight seriously or eat dirt.
Chronicles
That lunatic who picks fights everywhere? You're actually looking to hire her?
Judging by your look... you're neither strong nor rich. Best give up now.
Sure, she's got skills, but her temper's twice as explosive. Without power or money? She won't even glance your way.
— An Explorer in a Tavern
She's indeed wild and reckless. But in combat? There's no one you'd rather have at your back.
Her fees are steep, but every coin's justified. No, it's even a bargain, you know!
I'm not exaggerating. You will understand what I mean when your squad's surrounded by monsters, death breathing down your necks, and she still fights a way out for everyone.
— An Exploration Team Leader
My brother drilled that child relentlessly. Wealth, strength, and something like that. Poured it all into her since infancy.
A girl shouldn't endure such harsh training that a boy might not be able to survive, I argued. But she herself accepted it without complaint...
When he planned to take her into the Abyss, I stepped in again. A girl is sure better off with her auntie, rather than a bunch of men, no?
But neither would listen. Delis didn't want to leave her father.
I have no right to meddle in their affairs. After his death, she's all the family I have left. If you see her in the Abyss... please, watch over her.
— Delis' Aunt
Record
Her arrival in the team stirred up some unease.
A few members dreaded her endless duel demands, while others braced for explosive temper tantrums.
But contrary to expectations, she never became the troublemaker everyone feared.
Sure, Delis still occasionally challenges teammates to spar, but if refused, she'll just grumble and walk away, no coercion involved.
In daily life, her worst offenses are the occasional same old crude jokes. And that's all that can ever bother anyone.
She said she doesn't erupt like a d*** volcano unless provoked. "And duels? Depends on my mood."
So... crisis averted? Guess she's getting along fine after all.
The rumors hold the truth: in battle, Delis becomes a maniac.
She's no mere brute, though. Every object, every tactic is fair game, wielded with terrifying precision as a proper veteran.
A heads-up: Delis loathes missions where she can't give it all she's got or fight at full throttle. Please keep this in mind when assigning tasks in future plans.
Anecdote
Delis is cleaning her crossbow again.
After every battle, she'll find a quiet spot to clean and maintain each component, ensuring it stays in perfect condition. This ritual is traced back to that day.
Her father's team just barely survived a brutal fight, taking shelter in a mountain hollow to tend their wounds.
Then, a lone monster crept into Delis' sight, its gaze locking onto their hideout.
Darn it. A Scout!
She snatched up her crossbow, aimed, then pulled the trigger—
"Click... clunk." Muffled noises from within the weapon suggested that it malfunctioned.
No time to fix it. The monster threw back its head and howled.
By the time they fought free from the waves of monsters, only Delis, her gravely wounded father, and one other survivor remained.
"Friend... Take... care of my daughter—"
Those were his last words. Then he succumbed to severe wounds.
Before grief overwhelmed her, another monster lunged from behind.
"No!" She screamed in raw panic as she instinctively raised the crossbow.
But the broken machinery stayed unresponsive.
"Later, I went back. Slaughtered every last one of them. But it didn't and couldn't change a thing."
"If I'd killed that Scout first shot, everything would've been different."
