Darkwing
Basic File
Personal Info
Born into nobility but raised in exile due to her mother's identity, Darkwing only returned to her family after her father inherited the title.
Her unusual upbringing left her with a rare blend of aristocratic grace and down-to-earth pragmatism, along with a habit of frugality that often raised eyebrows.
To those unaware of her background, her penny-pinching ways seemed at odds with her noble lineage, earning her playful jabs as the "down-on-her-luck lady."
The truth, however, was simple: ever since arriving in the Abyss, she had refused all financial support from her family, relying solely on her own earnings.
Compounding matters was her generous nature. Most of her exploration rewards were spent aiding the weak, leaving her often strapped for money.
Yet as word of her kindness spread, her reputation soared. The people, moved by her selflessness, began calling her the "Thrifty Black Knight".
Chronicles
When I brought her and her mother home, she had already grown into a sensible child. Polite to everyone in the household, myself included.
I desperately tried to remove that barrier, to compensate her by giving her all the finest things this world could offer.... yet she turned everything down.
Sometimes, I wish she were a spoiled girl who would throw tantrums and make childish demands, act willful—just once—like any other child would with their father...
But this is my own doing. Had I possessed even half her courage back then, they wouldn't have spent those years wandering alone.
— Darkwing's Father
That girl suffered through so much with me when she was little, but never once did I hear her complain. Instead, she'd actually comfort me and help out however she could. Such a good kid.
Then when her father came back into our lives and things got easier, she still kept her old habits, saving money, doing everything herself like always.
She even made efforts to accept her father's affection and keep our family peaceful.
But as her parents, we wish she wouldn't try so hard. Family shouldn't have to walk on eggshells around each other.
I hope she realizes that soon. And of course, her father and I will strive to be better, so she can finally let her guard down with us.
— Darkwing's Mother
I've heard about Lady Darkwing for a long time—how she punishes the wicked, protects the weak, and still upholds her own brand of justice even in this chaotic Abyss. I truly respect that.
More importantly, she doesn't let her past or status define her. Every choice she makes comes straight from her own will and hard work.
Watching her in action actually helped clarify my own path: to stop obsessing over where I came from, follow my own convictions, and just give it everything I've got.

In some ways, she's like the Director. Rigid, uncompromising, humorless. But she's got her differences, too.
For instance, if I mess up, the Head Librarian lectures me harshly and makes me fix it alone. But Darkwing helps me set things right.
That's why she's so dependable. If only she'd lighten up occasionally, she'd be way more popular!

Record
Naturally, the team's biggest question for the rumored "Thrifty Black Knight" was: Just how tight were her finances, really?
Given her formidable skills, most agreed she could've lived comfortably, if not lavishly, had she chosen to.
But Darkwing insisted she had no interest in chasing wealth. Many of her commissions were taken pro bono, even at a loss, all to stay true to her principles.
In her downtime, she often picked up odd jobs in nearby Outposts and Settlements.
Close observers have noted that she doesn’t care much for pay; being frugal is more of her way of living.
She rarely spent on non-essentials. If an item could be fixed, she'd mend it rather than replace it, no matter how worn it became.
This habit accidentally revealed another hidden talent: Darkwing was remarkably handy with tools or a needle.
The delicate accessories she wore might be her own handiwork. But that was a question for another day.
Anecdote
That evening, as the group camped, dinner duty was decided by drawing lots.
"Darkwing got picked? Perfect!"
"Yeah, it's been a while since we've had her cooking. I'm already looking forward to it!"
Darkwing gave a faint smile as a response to their praise. "It won't take long," she said before heading off to prepare the meal.
Cooking was something she took pride in. She learned the basics by helping her mother during their years in exile, and after being reunited with her father, she sought intentional instruction from several skilled chefs.
After joining the squad, she proved her culinary skills with many delicious meals.
But the moment she saw tonight's ingredients, her expression darkened. It was a monster that looked like a rabbit.
"I'm starving! I wonder what Darkwing's making tonight?"
"A good cook like her can turn weeds into a delicacy. And I went out of my way to catch that thing. Supposedly its meat is super tender. This will be great!"
"Maybe I should go help. We'll get dinner ready faster that way."
When she was little, she had a pet rabbit that was her only friend during those lonely, wandering years. It had stayed by her side until one day, it was stolen from her.
Since then, she has avoided eating rabbit meat. She certainly never cooked it.
"Why did it have to be a rabbit...?" She exhaled quietly, forcing herself back to the present.
For the sake of her eagerly waiting friends, she bit her lip and steadied herself.
Clasping her hands together, she whispered to the monster, "I'm sorry... I'm sorry. You're not Bunnybo. You're not Bunnybo..."
Just then, the members who came to help froze in place, having caught the whole scene.
"...Bunnybo? Was that the name of Darkwing's pet?"
"I guess so. Never pictured her keeping one, though. So cute!!!"
"Uh, is it really okay that we overheard it? Darkwing certainly won't want us to know, right?"
"Don't worry! She's our friend. And a friend's secret is always safe with us! "
"...Really?"
"Of course!"
