When Kiki was made the deputy of the Eastrise Codices Department, she had no prior experience working there. She only puts on a show of dedication when her boss comes to visit. Otherwise, she doesn't really do anything. Her laziness, which is known throughout the department, is explained by two reasons: the deputy of the department holds no actual power, and she is lazy by nature. Kiki's immediate superior is Raeon, the leader of Eastrise and the only person with the authority to appoint an outsider as the deputy of the Codices Department. Shiyu's family has controlled the department for a long time, so the appointment is unlikely to affect it in any way. Kiki is aware that she is only there to keep tabs on Shiyu, not to get involved in the department's operations. That's why she never does anything in her capacity as a deputy but always provides Raeon with exhaustive reports on Shiyu.
