Case 1

For the rank-and-file soldiers of Eastrise, generals are a rarefied cohort beyond their reach, and Chief Sword Master Sil is the best possible sword wielder they could come into contact with. Sil is not a member of the army. She always fights alongside her apprentices during missions, thus helping reduce their casualties on the battlefield. That's why the grass~roots soldiers consider her the best candidate to lead them.

Case 2

Sil is an avid weapon collector. She has a room dedicated solely to blades—it's the place where she spends the most time. Unlike other collectibles, blades get rusty if left unused for a long time. That is unless they're given routine maintenance, which is what she does whenever she can spare the time from teaching swordsmanship to her apprentices and going on missions. As a result, her entire collection is always kept in tip-top shape. When she looks at those sharp blades, she can feel their desire to penetrate enemies. So she makes a point of carrying a different blade every time she goes on a mission—so that all of her "babies" get the chance to meet enemies and have their desire satisfied.

Case 3

As Chief Sword Master, Sil has been widely courted as a potential ally, including by big names such as the Eastrise general Firentia, the Watchtower leader Chiraha, and even the Eastrise chief Raeon. But Sil turned all ofthem down.
Sil's apprentices are numerous and scattered across all walks of life—from foot soldiers to Watchtower members, from Luminary Guards to Eastrise generals. Wherever there is a battle, you will find them. Being an adherent to traditional values, the last thing Sil wants is to cross blades with her apprentices. That's why she has rejected all invitations to join the fray.
